Raoul tried everything to rid his wife, Solange, of her permanently sad expression. But it was in vain. He then figures out that only love can make her happy again, and decides to give her away to a stranger they met in a restaurant. Once he gets over his surprise, Stéphane, a PE teacher in a little junior high in the North of France, ends up accepting this unusual gift. But he soon realizes that in spite of Mozart and paperbacks, Solange smiles no more with him than she did with her husband.
